Elderly Father Lino Viola celebrated a funeral in a 300 sqm church in Soncino, Italy, with thirteen people attending in gloves and masks.
Only seven people were allowed including the cantor, altar boys and a livestreamer, but Viola didn't sent away other six family members.
Therefore, during Mass, police officers walked in screaming, “The service is suspended.” They fined Father Viola with 270 euros for non-compliance with the coronavirus regime. Viola didn't interrupt Mass.
So, a policeman tried to hand him a mobil-phone with the mayor at the other end. Father replied, “I am not answering the mayor; I am saying Mass.” He prompted the policemen not to interrupt Mass. Finally, police left.
Viola told LaNuovaBq.it (April 20) that in 80 years and 55 as a priest he never saw such a desecration.
