Presently, a huge scandal is shaking the former Catholic Church in Germany. The Vatican did not confirm Jesuit Father Ansgar Wucherpfennig as the rector of the Jesuit Theological College Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt, the place where Pope Francis attempted in 1986 to write a doctoral thesis. Wucherpfennig was refused because he blesses gay couples and doubts the biblical teaching on homosexuality. Local Limburg bishop Georg Bätzing is on his side, and so are the oligarch media. Homosexuality is by definition, a behaviour disorder.
I agree.
Any other 'label' [i.e.mental illness] removes the notion of responsibility for ones behaviour.
Mental illness does not "remove the notion of responsibility" for an action. It simply mitigates it as it does for homosexuality. This is demonstrated in cases where a murder has been committed but the defendant claims (through his/…More

If the mental illness has been verified through MEDICAL testing, the punishment will be less severe because of his/her mental illness.
Or, as the Church perceives it, a sin of the flesh.

I am talking science including behaviorism and mental health and you want to add “sin” and the “Church.” I would caution anyone who seeks out or refers to “Church teaching” on homosexuality to be extremely careful that the information they gather from “the Church” is factually true and not some modernist self-serving crap which ESPECIALLY today can even originate from very high placed sources.
For MEDICAL departures from the norm (homosexuality is obviously a medical aberration/departure from the norm) I’d prefer to seek out medical sources and not the Church.
Sin, the Church the devil etc are recognizably different and not medical in nature. For this reason these subjects must involve different discussions entirely.
