Among the Cardinals of the Roman Curia, Stella, a hardcore liberal, is perhaps the one closest to Francis.
He went on calling priestly celibacy “the big beauty of the life of a priest,” adding that "the Church is the only institution that preaches a commitment forever: for priests, consecrated life and marriage.”
But then, he explained that it is [allegedly] up to a single man, Francis, whether to abolish celibacy or not.
