Not The First Time: Pope Francis has been criticized for the chasuble he used in a Mass during his present trip to South America in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. But then this picture of John Paul II appeared which was taken during a Mass celebrated in 1985 also in Ecuador.
Not Right: This is the gift Pope Francis received yesterday from Bolivia’s anti-Church president Evo Morales: Christ crucified on hammer and sickle, which is the symbol of godless and murderous Communism. Francis said “This is not right”, when he saw it. It was a carving produced in the Seventies by Jesuit Father Luis Espinal Camps. Espinal was killed in 1980 by the then government. During his trip from the airport to the archbishop’s residence at La Paz, the Pope paused to bless the place where the crime had happened.
