Maybe we should investigate and understand a bit the fight that Fnarcis thinks he is fighting here. It is such a political fight and also it is too diplomatic. I presume the vatican was at this summit www.youtube.com/watch here you can see the Sheikh talking about fraternity and brotherhood about minute 5-7, and so pope liked the fraternity idea of the moslim leader, thought he could add momentum and sign a fraternity document that would give momentum to peace in the world. I do believe this sheikh in the sunni world is pretty much on his own, way too moderate. He was placed in position by Mubarak a long time ago and because of his moderate views, the pope tried to give this man some leverage. By any means I think this goes unnoticed in the islamic world. He is pushed into position number 1 by virtue of wishful thinking bluff, calling him the most influential muslim. I have some muslim colleages and I learned that they are all members of suffism, that is opposed by el-tayeb.. By all means this way, diplomatically seen it could be a mastermove of the pope that could give him a nobel peace prize. With some concessions to the catholic dogma he thinks he can restore peace in the world, however doing it in the way of the world.

But would Jesus do this in this way?
