“There is no divine punishment, this is an incorrect view of Christianity," the neoconservative retired Milan Cardinal Angelo Scola, Italy, told the anti-Church Repubblica.it (February 26).
According to Scola, God knows and predicts events “but doesn't determine them.”
Scola denied that divine punishment for human sin can be related to the coronavirus which led to the shutdown of several Northern Italian dioceses.
The Bible gives many examples of sicknesses as a divine punishment.

ALL CAPS always turns up when you're wrong and ranting. Now you're wrong, you're ranting and you're a heretic as well. Don't even bother changing your post. By now you should know better.

Our Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost is absolutely omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, all loving, all knowing, all just, and all merciful. He created ALL things seen and unseen and maintains all things in existence. He exsiste outside of space and time and is pure spirit.

" According to Scola, God knows and predicts events “but doesn't determine them.” This is a most unfortunate gaffe for the Cardinal. The Lord Our God IS NOT a weatherman nor crystal ball, HE predicts NOTHING, He creates and knows all things at all point in time, as again he is not subject to that neccesarily human construct. As such, just elementary logic, it is glaringly clear God determines ALL THINGS as he wills. His Divine Punishment and Justice is heavily documented within Divine Revelation, the highest authority of the faith.

Scola fell on his head with one ear: it is the coronavirus which is indeed not a divine punishment but a Masonic fabrication, which is quite different.

Another mouldy heretic cardinal.
The so called catholic college of cardinals rots away to dust as they allow themselves be bullied and intimidated by the worst antipope ever.
Is there even one man among them?

Now, you went and mentioned the reason for the denial, I think...
It is correct that "divine punishment" does not exist because god does not exist, that is a catholic church invention as too many others. I do not understand that these bishops and cardinals who it is supposed to be educated are teaching those fiction matters......

God doesn't determine events? The cardinal needs to go back to prekinder of theology: God rules everything, every event of the universe, visible and invisible. Read Saint Thomas (CG, III, 64-102), cardinal, you might learn something; you might even convert and become a Catholic
Does he permit Hell as a divine punishment? The man who resists God's Eternal Law of Love will bring on himself eternal punishment which is the inevitable consequence of that Law. For a majority of people untrained in theological issues and niceties, the concept of divine punishment is perfectly adequate and comprehensible.
