He looks after number one (even in his own diocese) and this interview with the IT is just a way to keep the Irish media off his back. They're fuming someone had the 'liathroidi' (I won't translate just guess what it means) to turn down McAleese (darling of the pro-gay, liberal 'catholics' here) and some others on their list. Apparently they wanted to hold a conference in the Vatican and invite whom they liked. The bare-faced, brass-necked cheek!
Martin won't be there in Dublin more than a few more years. I hear his clergy long for the day.
