I met him once at a small pro-life meeting when he was stationed in Chicago during the early 2000s. I have only one memory of that meeting. I met him once at a small pro-life meeting when he was stationed in Chicago during the early 2000s. I have only one memory of that meeting. I remember him as being an affable man who was the only higher ranking cleric who agreed to come to our pro-life meeting. For that we were all grateful. However, there is one more thing that has stayed in my memory although it occurred nearly 20 years ago. The Archbishop was the first and only person at that time that I ever heard use the term "African American." With no offense intended, these people were simply referred to as 'Blacks' and nothing more. But Gregory said "African American." I am not ready to condemn him for using this term but I thought it was interesting(almost challenging) at the time and it's strange that this is one of the only things I remember about him.
