‘If ex-Catholic was a religion...’: Why independent Catholic churches are flourishing

The Roman Catholic Church is still the biggest religious institution in the United States. But fewer and fewer Americans are identifying as Catholic,…
"Independent Catholics"??? Martin Luther should have called himself that. :p "Ex-Catholic" is not a religion. It's apostacy. For a "flourishing" church, those are some mighty empty pews, too.

"drawing Catholics eager for new ways to practice an old faith."
Wasn't that the whole point of Vatican Council II? We all saw how THAT worked out.

"Alternative Catholic churches have existed for centuries. The Orthodox Catholic Church, which split with the Roman Catholic Church in 1054."
False comparison. The Orthodox Catholic Church is not an "alternative". It might not be in full communion with Rome, yet Rome still recognizes the validity of Orthodox sacraments. The Orthodox are schismatics, they are not heretics, like this motley band of lunatics. Likewise, the Orthodox do NOT include "an openness to concepts and stances that the Roman Catholic Church eschews, including female priests and gay marriage"

"The Rome-led Catholic Church has made sure to convey that independent parishes aren’t “the real thing,” suggesting that joining one could jeopardize a Catholic’s salvation."

Even that's being lenient. Suggesting?? No. It's a matter of basic Church teaching that leaving the Church can and will prevent a Catholic's salvation. There is no salvation outside the Church which is where these degenerates have placed themselves.

The rest of the article is more feel-good double-talk excusing rampant heresy. Just because a lot of degenerates join a "church" doesn't mean they're doctrinally sound Catholics or that what's going on is morally or spiritually valid. In logic, that's known as the "bandwagon-fallacy". Put another way, Just because there are untold thousands of sodomites who joyously engage in coprophagia, doesn't make what they're doing healthy or normal.

You can "hear" the evil in the lies as you read. Saying attendance increased since the "clergy scandal" reminds me of late-term abortionist Carhart saying how protesters have dwindled since he set up his new office.
