Attending My First Latin Mass.
If you’ve been following my channel for any length of time, you might be surprised to find out that I attended my first extraordinary form, or Latin mass this past weekend because I’ve spent some time talking about liturgy especially aesthetics in our worship in my videos, and if you’ve picked up on it, you might have noticed that I’ve been favoring a more traditional take on things. My wife and I were both nervous going into it. It reminded me of what it was like attending my first Catholic Mass. I didn’t know what to expect, I didn’t know if I’d embarrass myself or not. But those small anxieties were accompanied by a kind of excitement and anticipation. Like, we’re really trying something new and what is this going to mean for our lives. The first thing I was struck by was how prayerful the atmosphere was when we arrived. There was no chatter. The people that were there were there to seek God in prayer and this attitude and disposition was really prevalent …More

I like this. God always find His own ways to attract people. NOM is like fast food=very unhealthy for our bodies and souls, but tridentine (latin) mass is like (so called) organic food for souls.

Good comments and thank you for your honest observations. I'd like to add - for whatever its worth - that the allure of the Latin Mass for me is the theology of the liturgy. Reading the gospel of John Chapter 6 and Our Lord's description of eating his flesh and drinking his blood, a hard saying, is what the Latin Mass is all about. Beautiful.
Like JT, I testify “We were robbed.” Thank the good Lord I found my way back. Novus Ordo fatally defective, no thank you.

Let me add one more thing, I especially like this: "I’m going to go back to see if it is something that will continue to instill the grace I need to function in this world"
That gave me a bit of a chuckle. You have no idea yet my young friend. I hope after a time of assisting exclusively at this Mass, you use your considerable talents to post your thoughts and those of your wife as to how it has …More

I'm first wave post Vatican II, born in late 1962. They hid it from us; this beautiful Mass, our patrimony, our rightful inheritance. I remember my first about 20 years ago. It is seared in my memory. I could write more about that day than is appropriate for a combox. Please return with your wife and family Brian, and never look back. I assure you, you won't regret it. God bless you.
