So, let's make a positive comment here - this is the Vicar of Christ, whatever we may think of him! He calls for Christians to not only have an academic knowledge of Christ, but a mystical knowledge as well. This means instead of childishly following laws in a book, living a Christian Life flows naturally from the heart. That distractions are rife within society, and therefore the church too. Finally, a Christian who is dour, militant, judgemental and unhappy, has NOT experienced the freedom of Jesus the Christ, and is still in the chains of human immaturity, and therefore spiritual arrested development. I think one ought to always pierce the surface of human frailty, look for the Good, and present it - especially when the legitimate Vicar of Christ speaks thusly. 'What does Gaudete et Exultate teach ME', rather than 'how can I use this to judge others', is a more Christian way to approach this, in my opinion.

Gosh, a similar things has happened with the Polish, having had a rather famous Pope in JPII. The clergy and religious have appropriated authority unto themselves, and have become little pontiffs in their respective Parishes in Poland. They even tell us outsiders how to run our respective Churches, and what's allowed and what's not, e.g. a parish priest of Gdansk told a parishioner of St Etheldreda in London, UK, in confession, that she didn't need to confess abortion, "the Lord understands and has already read your heart."

One cannot see how singing the magnificent Mozart Requiem for all the dead victims of AIDS within a paraliturgical event for promoting Life, makes His Eminence 'pro-gay'. In his cathedral, His Eminence preached a splendid homily of pro-life issues the other weekend (the great feast of St Martin de Tours). Maybe news reporting in the above article needs to either be, 1. More comprehensive in order to support its claims; or, 2. More responsible in its praxis, and therefore, more Christian.
