Benedict XVI Explains the Easter Triduum.

The catechesis of the Pope in Saint Peter’s Square, this morning, for the Wednesday general audience, was devoted to explaining the meaning of the Easter Triduum. The criterion which guided Jesus’ every choice during his whole life was the firm desire to love the Father and to be faithful to him; this decision to adhere to his love drove him to embrace, in every, single circumstance, the plan of the Father, precisely to bring into act the design of love entrusted to him of bringing all things together in Him, of leading everything to Him. In reliving the Holy Triduum, we also dispose ourselves to welcome into our lives the will of God, aware that in this is found our true good, the way of life.

I urge you – said the Pope – to welcome this mystery of salvation, and to participate intensely in the Easter Triduum, the fulcrum of the entire liturgical year and a moment of special grace for every Christian; I invite you to seek recollection and prayer in these days, so as to draw more deeply from this fountain of grace. To this end, in view of the upcoming festivities, every Christian is invited to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a moment of special intimacy with the death and resurrection of Christ, to be able to participate with greater fruit in this Holy Easter
