Dead: Fifty-one-year-old Sister Isabelle Sola Matas, a member of the Religious of Jesus and Mary was driving her car in downtown Port-au-Prince, Haiti, last Friday, when two men on a motorcycle shot her fatally. Sister Isabelle worked at St. Joseph church where she directed a program providing people with prosthetic limbs. She was from Barcelona, Spain, but had lived in Haiti for years. Her purse was stolen. A Haitian woman who was a passenger in the car was also shot twice and taken to a hospital.

Suspended: Newark archbishop John Myers has suspended Father Warren Hall, an openly homosexual priest. Hall is no longer permitted to publicly offer Mass or present himself as a priest. He was suspended for supporting a former Catholic high school employee who was fired for being in a homosex pseudo-marriage.

The priest has to be a man because he is serving as a husband to the church as his wife. The entire mystery of the priesthood is wrapped up within the mystery of the marriage in heaven between the Bridegroom and His bride. If the priest is not designed for a woman, then it seems to me like it is a contradiction of the fundamental mystery that the priesthood derives its existence from.
