The Last must be put in the first place!
September 22 2019 XXV Sunday of Ordinary Time

Dear brothers and sisters, Pope Francis has been repeatedly accused of making politics, of being a communist, of speaking more about the poor and the environment than about Jesus Christ. Pope Francis answered these accusations by affirming that the preferential option for the last and for the poor has its foundation in the very heart of the Gospel! The liturgy of Sunday, September 22, could, and should, put an end to all these unjustified criticisms. In fact from the admonition addressed by God, through the prophet Amos, to the rich who deceive the poor: "Certainly I will never forget all the things they have done!”, (first reading) to the invitation made by Saint Paul to Timothy, to pray and to have Christians pray for Kings and for all in authority in order to have them seeking the common good of their peoples (second reading), to the categorical affirmation made by Jesus that one cannot serve God and the richness (Gospel of Luke), it is clear that serving the last and the poor is to serve God himself!
