The scandal the world needs to see!
Gospel of Sunday, February 3, 2019

Dear brothers and sisters, from the passage of the Gospel of Luke we'll listen next Sunday February 3, emerges a contrast that could provide us with a precious paradigm for understanding how different human logic is from God's "logic"!

On one hand we have the fellow citizens of Jesus and the Jews in general, who in order to believe keep on setting conditions to God and asking for miracles that they will never receive ... On the other hand, we have pagans and foreigners who believe without conditions and just in this way they get incredible miracles.

What's more, Paul, in the passage of the second reading, helps us, with his hymn to charity, to understand what is, after all, the greatest miracle performed by Jesus, which only can awaken faith in the world: that is: charity! (Only love is credible)

That's why Paul, in a famous passage from the first letter to the Corinthians, proposes again the same contrast when he says that while the Greeks seek wisdom and the Jews ask for miracles, he proclaims Christ crucified, a scandal for the Jews and a madness for the pagans. but for those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, he announces the crucified Christ, who is God's wisdom and power! (1 Corinthians 1, 22-25)

Wisdom and power of God are manifested precisely in the scandal of the Cross that is nothing more than God's pure love that pushes Him, in His Son, to "get out of Himself" even to the "madness of the Cross" in order to save humanity.

It's this " Jesus' love to the end", dear brothers and sisters, the only "scandal", so to speak, that the world would like to see in the Church. In fact the world needs to see "real Christians" who, crucifying their "ego" on the Cross of Christ, are able to manifest to the world the purity of His love!

Because the other kinds of scandals, St. Paul would say, are none other than just garbage!! And you can take it to the bank!
