Cardinal Brandmüller was unfairly maligned for stressing the relation between clerical abuses and homosexuality, Bill Donohue wrote. He noticed that Brandmüller made four key points, all of which are eminently defensible. 1) 80% of the cases of sexual assault in the Church are homosexual, affecting male youth, not children. 2) Only a vanishingly small number of priests, 0.005%, have been predators. 3) It is “hypocritical” for society to condemn clergy sexual abuse, Brandmüller said, while not condemning the same problem in other quarters. 4) Brandmüller righlty expressed concerns about homosexuals in the priesthood.

Pope Francis Remembers Archbishop Zur, Kiko Argüello

At the end of his Tuesday morning Mass, Pope Francis recalled with emotion Archbishop Giorgio Zur, a former Apostolic Nuncio to Austria, who lived with Francis in Casa Santa Marta and who died hours before. Then he sent greetings to Kiko Argüello, co-initiator of the Neocatechumenal Way, who on January 8th celebratesd his 80th birthday. The Neocatechumenal Way has been in the headlines for its liturgical abuses which Benedict XVI tried in vain to stop.

Opus Dei Is Kowtowing

The Opus Dei in America is kowtowing to the world after it became known that a famous Opus Dei priest, Father John McCloskey, was rebuked by the organisation for allegedly having groped a woman. In a statement Msgr. Thomas Bohlin, the Opus Dei Vicar in the United States, declared that Father McCloskey currently suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s. He is largely incapacitated and needs assistance for routine daily tasks. He has not had any pastoral assignments for a number of years and is no longer able to celebrate Mass, even privately.

The diner O'Naturel in Paris made many headlines a year ago when it opened as the first and only place where guests can enjoy a meal completely naked. For health reason, the staff, from cooks to waiters, was supposed to be fully dressed, while clients would show up completely naked. But the restaurant was a flop. In February the restaurant will be shut down for good. Thanks be to God.
