Caritas Wants To Put Pope’s Condom-Statement Into Practice

Caritas Internationalis, the consortium of Catholic relief and development agencies, has issued a statement welcoming Pope Benedict’s remarks on condoms in the book-length interview with Peter Seewald. “The Pope’s comments in this book illustrate the importance of compassion and sensitivity in dealing with the complexities of HIV/AIDS prevention,” said Caritas Secretary General. “Caritas delivers its HIV/AIDS programs in line with Church teaching and we will consider, in close consultation with the Holy See, whether there are implications for our work in these reported comments of Pope Benedict.”

For years, individuals like Steinberg have been criticizing Church matters using the threat that certain policies (for which Jews did not totally approve) would damage “Vatican-Jewish relations”. To be fair, perhaps the Church can offer her own suggestions as to what Jews ought to believe, do, hold as true etc. Under the threat that certain Jewish policies could damage “Vatican-Jewish relations, may we then expect the Jews to respect Catholic wishes for Judaism in the same way as they expect Catholicism to respect what the Jews want for the Catholic Church?
If the comments regarding Pius XII are inaccurate, then it ought to be a simple matter to prove that claim and the case will be closed forever. However, if they are accurate then quit your kvetching and your incessant desire to stick your nose in the affairs of the Catholic Church.
Since it is highly unlikely that the Vatican will publicly tell Jews what they should or should not believe, I will. Jesus is the Christ and the sooner you stiff-necked anti-Christs realize it, the better off you will be.
