The Holy Father ordains new Priests to the Diocese of Rome.

Three times the word joy is echoed in St. Peter's Basilica, three reasons to rejoice and to be full of joy: that of celebrating the Eucharist on the Lord's Day, that of the joy derived from Eastertide in which we are still immersed, and the special joy of the priestly ordination of twenty-nine new priests for the Diocese of Rome, the Diocese of the Pope, for which the Holy Father has paused in prayer and imposed hands over them; A gesture, recalled the Pope, which has nothing to do with magic, and yet is so full of mystery. In the silent prayer that accompanies this gesture, two freedoms meet: that of God, operating through the Holy Spirit, and that of man, which by the same Spirit finds the source of life and hope. Their mission, indicated by Bishop of Rome, Benedict XVI, is to bring the Gospel to all so that all may experience joy and do so with that hope rooted in faith, hope which these new priests will become witnesses and wise, generous dispensers of, kind and strong, respectful and convincing. Spe salvi: Hope saves: them, us, and all humanity.
