Rooted in Confusion: Washington Cardinal Wuerl said last Thursday to the National Catholic Reporter that Francis’ Amoris Laetitia is – quote – “clearly rooted in the tradition of the Church” and – quote – “deeply rooted in the magisterial tradition of the church."
The Liturgy is Sick: In an interview with the French newspaper, "La Nef," Cardinal Sarah, prefect of the Congregation for Liturgy, said - quote - “The liturgy is sick. The most striking symbol of this sickness is the omnipresence of the microphone. It has become so indispensable that people wonder how anyone could have celebrated before it was invented.”
Toward the Lord: In the same interview Cardinal Sarah insisted on his wish that Mass be celebrated toward the Lord. Quote: “Mary Magdalene was able to recognize Jesus on Easter morning because she turned back toward Him.”
Lecture Instead of Mass: Cardinal Sarah added, “Facing the Lord, the priest is less tempted to become a professor who gives a lecture during the whole Mass, reducing the altar to a podium centered no longer on the cross but on the microphone!”
