Wrong Alternative: Pope Francis has almost impossible expectations to fill on reform and sex issues according to Nicole Winfield writing for Associated Press. Quote: “He has endeared himself to the public for looking out for the poor and radically shifting the church's focus to mercy rather than moralizing.” Gloria.tv believes that it is wrong to oppose morals and mercy against each other as if moral would be merciless and mercy would be immoral.

Wishful Thinking: Wishful thinking is rampant where Francis is concerned, perhaps especially among those born into the faith who have grown distant from it – Peter Manseau wrote Monday in the New York Times.

Dead: Last Saturday, the Catholic bioethicist Mario Palmaro died in Monza, Northern Italy after a long battle with cancer. Palmaro was 45 years old. Last October he made headlines when he was dismissed by the Catholic broadcaster Radio Maria for having respectfully criticized Pope Francis. Francis later called Palmaro telling him that this criticism had been important. Palmaro is survived by his wife Annamaria and four children.

Slander: Archbishop John Nienstedt of St. Paul-Minneapolis has resumed public ministry, after he recused himself during an investigation following a slander that he had touched a male minor's buttocks during a very public group photo following a May 2009 confirmation. Intimidation tactic has become a frequent tool used against orthodox bishops and priests.
