Gone: 69 year-old Capuchin Father Giovanni Salonia, whom Pope Francis named in February as the new auxiliary bishop of Palermo, Italy, has withdrawn. His consecration had already been put on hold. According to the journalist Marco Tosatti, Salonia's nomination caused protests among some superiors of female religious institutes. Allegedly even the superior general of the capuchins, Father Mauro Jöhri, opposed the nomination. Salonia had been presented as a partisan of the Francis Church. Blessed Asparagus: The Dean of the Anglican Worcester Cathedral participated in a procession down the Cathedral as a block of asparagus was elevated like the Blessed Host. Two men dressed up like Monty Python paid some sort of obsequious homage. The reason for this ceremony was an Asparagus Festival. Extreme Agenda: New York Cardinal Dolan slammed a recent pledge from the Democratic National Committee’s chair to support only pro-abortion candidates as “disturbing” and “intolerant.” Dolan called this an "extreme agenda.” Justice? On April 20, Arkansas killed 51-year-old Ledell Lee who had been convicted of homicide although his lawyer was drunk more than once during the trial and the prosecutor had a relationship with the judge that later resulted in a marriage. Before he died, Lee refused a last meal in order to receive Holy Communion. He always strongly professed his innocence.

Justice? On Feb. 9, 1993, Lidell Lee bludgeoned Debra Reese, age 26, who was raped and murdered in her home and was “struck approximately 36 times with a tire thumper a tool used by truck drivers to check their tire pressure.” Her husband had given it to her for protection because he was a trucker who was often gone. Lee was also convicted for the rape of two Jacksonville women and was accused of the murder and rape of 22-year-old Christine Lewis. Lee was arrested within an hour of Debra Reese's death after some of the cash taken from her wallet was used to pay a bill at a Rent-A-Center store. The ages of Lee’s victims ranged from 17 to 70 and prosecutors called him a “psychosexual serial rapist.”

Ledell Lee declined a traditional last meal Thursday night, choosing instead to receive Communion, a spokesperson for the state’s Department of Corrections said. The 51-year-old convicted killer was administered the lethal injection at 11:44 p.m. Lee received communion as his last meal at 4 p.m. and refused any other food, according to the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Justice was finally served after 20 some years and numerous appeals all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court including President Trump's recently appointed Justice Neil Gorsuch who succeeded Antonin Scalia.

Canon 919:
1. One who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain from any food or drink, with the exception only of water and medicine, for at least the period of one hour before Holy Communion.

The convicted murderer Ledell or the priest administering communion or possibly both of them do not know the rules regarding the communion fast. Perhaps the priest or whoever brought the Eucharist should be locked up for 30 days if they also didn't know the fast is only 1 hour before receiving Communion? 🚬
