Wow! That's my cardinal archbishop from Sydney, Australia, Cardinal George Pell! Just browsing the pages and I came across him supporting both the young, and tradition. I have always respected him greatly because of these qualities, despite the undeserved flak he gets here in Sydney from the cafeteria Catholic's, who I call "professional catholics" because they're invariably on the Catholic payroll occupying teaching positions in schools and unis, but in reality hate traditional Catholicism.
I first met auxiliary bishop Pell in Melbourne in 1988 (if I remeber correctly). In those "dry weary times without water" when anything remotely traditional in Catholic liturgy, music, or custom was despised more than it is now, George always backed us young guys and girls who wanted to sing beautiful music, worship in beauty, or simply have a few beers with us. He is a great bloke. He was 70 on June 8th, and has been Sydney's archbishop since 2001. Ad multos annum George, 'hope you have another ten years guiding us here in Sydney. Wishing him good health and God's grace for resisting his opponents.
