One of the most rewarding events in the history of the Catholic Church was the Battle of Lepanto, which took place in 1571, forty years after Our Lady had appeared to Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill (what is now the famous shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City). We, the people of God, have always been blessed and rewarded for the trust we have had in Our Lord Jesus and His Mother Mary. Whenever we have prayed the Rosary, They have granted us the power to overcome the enemy.
At about this time, without having any definite information on the progress of the battle, Saint Pope Pius V turned to the entire Christian world and asked them to begin a Rosary Crusade! And the result? Out of the 170 enemy galleys (ships) only 40 escaped! 130 were either sunk or captured. The Christian forces lost 15 galleys and they were able to free 13, 000 Christian slaves.

Brother Hudelot pointed into the air. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing “Miracle!” he shouted, “Miracle!” All eyes followed his arm, up into the air, above the Altar. The monstrance was suspended in mid-air, right above where the Altar had been, but now without any visible means of support. It was slightly bent forward, and the left arm of the small cross on top, seemed to touch the bars of the gate of the choir railing. It was unbelievable. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing. As the smoke began to clear, and their eyes adjusted to the scene before them, it was a paradox. Below, on the ground, were broken and twisted candlesticks. The sacred stone which had been attached to the Monstrance was shattered in three pieces. All that was left of the table was four charred legs. The Tabernacle was melted. Yet the Monstrance with the two Consecrated Hosts were perfectly intact, floating safely above the broken fragments.

Family, we have a Treasure, of so great a magnitude it has kept our Church alive and strong and protected against millenniums of struggle with the devil who has been trying to destroy us since he tempted Jesus on the Mount of Temptation in Jericho. And how has He been able to keep that promise to us, that promise of being with us, living within our souls, giving us strength to stand up against the powers of hell? He is always with us in the Sacrament of His Body and Blood, the Eucharist. He gave us that gift freely while He was on earth. All of the sisters in the room, and the priest, fell to their knees in reverence to the Miraculous Gift they had been given. They prayed for the safe journey of the soul of their Foundress to her heavenly reward. In due time, her body was prepared for the funeral. Blessed Joan Solderini, who assumed the saint’s responsibility in the community, was the first to notice another miracle. They took St. Juliana’s bedclothes off the body. On her left breast was the outline of the Crucified Christ, encircled by the Host. It was in the same position as the Host which had been placed on her chest, and had disappeared.

Cast your lot with the enemy of God with his false, fleeting promises and he will not only betray you on earth, he will drag you down with him to the bowels of hell. Saints like St. Aloysius made a choice in life, while very young. He chose the crown awaiting him in Heaven rather than the temporary crown on earth which will tarnish. Look in the mirror! What do you see? Is that the one you want to stand before Our precious Lord, Who loved you so much, when asked,”How much do you love me?” opened His Arms wide on the Cross and said, “This much.” We love you!

She was born with a crippled and paralyzed right arm, and a disease commonly called in those days, “Scrofula”, which is a form of tuberculosis which affects the neck. In her case, it also made her neck and cheeks malformed, and not at all pleasant to look at. At times, she suffered from swelling and open, pussy sores. No one knew for sure who her parents were. Laurent Cousin may have been her father, but that was never determined for sure. She might also have been left at the doorstep as a baby, perhaps because of her deformities, or she may have been the child of Laurent’s first wife, who died of the plague when Germaine was an infant.
