Pope speaks about his father: Pope Francis wore a hard hat as he visited a mine in Sardinia, one of Italy's poorest regions. The yellow helmet was emblazoned with the 'Welcome to Sardinia, Holiness'. Francis spoke off the cuff in Cagliari: “My young father went to Argentina full of illusions of making it in America. And he suffered the terrible crisis of the 1930s. They lost everything. There was no work.” Amid shouts of 'Lavoro! Lavoro!' (Work! Work!), Francis called for a dignified employment for all.
The wrong language: In a sign that the exhausting day was starting to take its toll, at the end of his visit to Sardinia, Francis inadvertently slipped into his native Spanish in his final public remarks. Like many of Italy's regions, it also has its own dialect. 'Hah,' he laughed. 'Even I'm speaking dialect here.'

The ambiguity exists because of poorly chosen language without any clarification. Allowing the 'Swiss Guards' of the establishment Catholic media to spin and walk back his comments is counter-productive. Getting it right the first time should be the norm with a limited potential for misinterpretation.
So far, that hasn't happened.

The comments the Pope made have been taken out of context as was his remarks in the recent Jesuit interview. The pope did make a poor choice of words but he did speak out about abortion last week and excommunicated a priest a few days ago which did not get hardly any coverage since it was announced in a Australian newspaper. The priest was speaking out in favor of same sex marriage and women priests …More
