Pope Benedict XVI has admonished the 24 new cardinals not to ask Christ to come down from the cross, but rather to unite themselves faithfully to Him for the redemption of the world. Yesterday during a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica he gave to each of them a ring with the image of a crucifix emblazoned on it. The image was intended to remind them that their ministry is dependent upon their fidelity to the crucified Christ.

Two major reports have been published in the past decade on the capability of condoms to impede the transmission of HIV/AIDS. Their conclusions were broadly similar - the use of a latex condom can reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission by 80% to 95% (NIH / WHO). …More

Their conclusions were broadly similar - the use of a latex condom can reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission by 80% to 95% (NIH / WHO). Given that condoms may not be stored in optimum conditions and/or may not be used by their "sell by" date - a 20% risk of contracting HIV/AIDS is a real probability. If I fly on any major airline, I expect a 99.9% safety record, anything less is not good enough. Safety is no accident!
