No statue: Pope Francis has requested that a statue dedicated to him be removed. The statue was erected ten days ago in the gardens of the Cathedral of Buenos Aires. Argentinean newspaper Clarín reports that the minute Francis found out about the statue he telephoned the cathedral in person and demanded it be “removed immediately.” The statue is the work of artist Fernando Pugliese who has created other monuments dedicated to John Paul II and Mother Theresa.
Michael Kessler is a Georgetown University professor who advocates for same-sex marriage and has compared supporters of traditional marriage to racists. He will teach a course this fall called “Law, Ethics, and Politics: The Case of Marriage” according to cardinalnewmansociety.org. Georgetown is ostensibly a Catholic University run by the Jesuits.
