The Reason Why the Bishop Left

Solsona Bishop Xavier Novell, 52, Spain, retired on August 23 for “strictly personal” reasons.

Media now say that his departure was motivated by “love.” He is said to have told his close friends, “I have fallen in love with a woman, for the first time in my life, and I want to do things right."

Novell was an excellent diocesan bishop, appointed at 41. He fought homosex propaganda and abortion and promoted evangelisation and the healing of homosexuals, even taking them during their healing process into his house. A year and a half ago, he celebrated the wedding of a former homosexual. Because of homosex violence, he needed police protection.

However, with the arrival of Francis’ conformist ideology, he ended up in a corner. Like Francis, most of his elderly priests were also conformists. He could only rely on a small group of younger clergy.
