Czech Bishops' Conference Condemns Eucharist in Pub

Rev. Marek Vácha, chaplain of the University of Prague, presided over a Eucharist on January 29 in a bar in Břevnov, Czech Republic.

There were half-filled wine and beer glasses on the tables. The event was called "The Lord in the Tavern".

An advertisement shared on social media announced a "pub party for believers and non-believers." It added that a waitress would be at the bar: "It will be possible to drink beer or other liquids throughout the evening."

The Bishops' Conference of the Czech Republic called the show "unlawful and inappropriate".

In a February 3 statement, the bishops point out that the Eucharist must be presided over "in a sacred place, unless in exceptional cases necessity requires otherwise" and that organising a Eucharist "in a bar without serious reason is in itself inappropriate."

In no case should a Eucharist be combined "with the context of an ordinary dinner", the bishops wrote.

While the organizers argued that the purpose of the event was "to bring closer to the Lord those who would not otherwise come to church," the bishops' statement asks "why we bring the Eucharist to the bar for those who do not come to church."

As a result, Father Marek Vácha, who belongs to the diocese of Brno, was dismissed by the Prague archdiocese from his post as chaplain of the university community.

However, Bishop Pavel Konzbul of Brno will not punish the priest who "apologised".

"Tavern Mass" in the Czech Republic, celebrated on Jan. 29, 2025, while everyone was drinking beer and eating pretzels, and broadcast live on national TV (the local bishops' conference condemned it afterwards).

Notice these tongue-in-cheek “condemnations” always/only seem to come out after the fact, even though it was well publicized in advance.
The conciliar religion is not the Catholic religion.

It was broadcasted on "catholic" TV NOE, not national TV.
The pub is located in still functioning Prague benedictine monastery.
The event must have been approved with the abbot.
He lost his 0.2 contract in Prague student parish but continues as priest in good standing in his home dioecese Brno.

Ps: Can anyone supply me with a link to last week’s buttcheek mass in the Philipines?

First, they do it.
Second, I'm sorry.
But I know I did it. And all know I did it.

I’m so sick and tired of this blasphemy. I’d have to go to confession for what I would say or do to a priest doing this.

Good for the Bishops' Conference of the Czech Republic ! 😊

Madness such as this blasphemous sacrilege will continue until there are implacably severe consequences and uncompromising measures taken each and every time it happens. There must be strict enforcement of the rules and rubrics, with rigorous observation and monitoring of what occurs under the watchful eyes of the ecclesiastical authorities in charge.
