Well I think for repairing paintings you should be able to paint properly. Someone should have told this chap that its not an embroidered piece so no need to paint in stitches. Also rubber gloved hands were atypical of Madona images of the period. Keep this guy away from any art you have. I think the most charitable way to describe his work is that of a meticulous amateur.
