Bishop consecrates priests, seminarians for renewed fight vs RH Bill

SAN PABLO City, July 17, 2012―San Pablo Bishop Leo Drona on Monday has consecrated his priests, religious and seminarians to prepare them for a renewed battle against the controversial Reproductive Health (RH) Bill which Congress wants railroaded and passed.

During the Monthly Clergy Recollection which fell on the Feast of our Lady of Mount Carmel, the bishop gathered over 300 priests, religious and seminarians inside the San Pablo Cathedral to pray the Holy Rosary and consecrate them to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Drona told the Clergy and seminarians after the consecration that during the Feast of Mount Carmel we recall the Blessed Mother’s role and inspiration in battling against enemies of Christianity. The fight against idolatry and evils in the world and society through prayer and penance with the help of the Holy Spirit continues in the present.

The bishop said the consecration of the clergy and seminarians was intended to prepare priests and the whole diocese to face head-on the battle against the evil of the RH Bill which wants to reduce Philippine population by artificial means including abortion.

The bill which has already died, resurrected and is now coming back again for the nth time would not simply give up and refuses to die naturally and rest peacefully.

House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. had admitted that they are pressured to pass the RH Bill by all means.

"I myself believe in the RH and I'd like to see it (pass) through (the debates). We're already thinking of how we'll do it and so forth. It's an important one. I have to admit that the fact that it is moving in the Senate also put pressure on us here," Belmonte said as quoted by a Manila paper.

The consecration was attended by Boac Bishop Reynaldo B. Evangelista, the preacher of the Priests’ Recollection held at the Bishop Residence here.

All the parish priests will also perform the consecration to their parishioners in their respective parishes so that the entire diocese of San Pablo would be consecrated to Jesus’ and Mary’s hearts.

The consecration prayer led by Bishop Drona said in part: “Triumph, O sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Reign O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. In our hearts, in our homes, and our families in Your Church and in our parishes, in the lives of all the faithful, in the hearts of those who has yet know you not and in all the nations of the world.” (Fr.
