Belgian Prime Minister Summoned Nuncio Over Francis' Abortion Remarks

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo told the parliament on October 3 that Francis' [empty] words on abortion were "unacceptable".

The politician has summoned the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Franco Coppola, for a meeting (CathoBel.be, 3 October).

In Parliament, 'Green' MP Sarah Schlitz was furious at Francis' apt comparison of abortionists to contract killers.

Socialist MP Caroline Désir, a former education minister, attacked, "Mr Prime Minister, you welcomed a religious leader who used his visit to express his most retrograde [= sensible] and patriarchal [= human] positions on women."

Prime Minister De Croo claimed that Francis' remarks were "unacceptable" saying that "we have no lessons to learn about the way in which our parliamentarians democratically vote on [criminal] laws".

And, "The time when the Church dictated the law in our country is, fortunately, long gone." After his disrespectful and anti-Christian statements, he called for "respect", first and foremost for the "contract killers" (Francis) of unborn human beings, but also for their murderous mothers.

De Croo announced that his message to Nuncio Coppola would be very clear: "What has happened is unacceptable."

Rev. Gabriel Ringlet, a former vice-rector of the Catholic University of Louvain, struck the same tone. He described Francis' comments on abortion on Rtbf.fe as "unbearable". Ringlet is "very proud" of the university rector for criticising Francis’ remarks.

Belgium is a decadent country that suffers from a decadent Church and a decadent regime.

Any negative remark critical of abortion by the Pope, even if delivered in with a politically correct tone would have been met with cries of inhumanity against women and intolerant extremism.

Abortonists are, in addition to being modern day Herods are also baby killers and assassins of the family. They honor Satan by aborting unborn babies., which is a sacrament for them.

It’s always fun when murders try to defend their profession. “How dare you prevent me from murdering someone!”

Belgium summons Vatican Nuncio to complain of Francis' ‘unacceptable’ remarks about abortion

What, because he compared abortionists to contract killers?

JANET ZIMMER

I think Francis has suddenly begun being blunt about abortion because he knows the angel of death well might make a visit to the Vatican next year along with the Holy Year pilgrims, and a man with his outsized ego would surely want to be declared a saint as quickly as Paul VI and John-Paul II were. That probably would not happen if believing Catholics vigorously opposed it and he’s trying to head them off at the pass. Won’t work.

CatMuse

That they are contracted to kill is unquestionable in any court of law. Croo is reading too much into the statement.

The people elected this asinine idiot so what do they expect. But with V2, religious liberty was pushed, so the demonic words of the pm are protected.

@Father Karl A Claver Of course abortion is a very grave sin, but calling the doctors who perform abortion "contract killers" or "hitmen" is not something Christ would do. Francis should call it sin and not make the abortion issue political, which you do by using these words.

chris griffin

@petrus100452...doctors who perform abortions are MASS MURDERERS.

Louis IX

@petrus, really? Really? The Gospel is full of Christ using words that raised the hackles of those that hated Him. He did not mince words.

petrus100452

@chris griffin @Louis IX @sp2 . . You are all right, but for a pope, using these words doesn't serve the pro life cause. On the contrary, the advocates of abortion, such as the governments, will only react by fighting harder for their self proclaimed rights. Calling it a sin (which is the task of the Church) doesn't make abortion less grave than giving it names from the criminal vocabulary (even if it is true). "Abortion is a grave sin" is calling a spade a spade.

Scapular

People don’t know what a sin is. These are hard hitting and apt words used by the Pope. Best words of the Pontificate. Wiki states
“ Contract killing (also known as murder-for-hire) is a form of murder or assassination in which one party hires another party to kill a targeted person or people. It involves an agreement which includes some form of compensation, monetary or otherwise. It is an illegal agreement.“

petrus100452

@Scapular You are right. People don't know what sin is. I'm afraid Francis doesn't know either ( see his made-up sins at the synod). But it is not fruitful then to resort to language that comes from civil law. Then you miss the point.
