Emmanuel, God-With-Us. Homily for the feast of the Most Holy Trinity, Year B
Over the course of a year the Church celebrates the great deeds that God has done for us, and the recurring meaning of all of these feasts can be expressed quite simply as “God-with-us”. The feast of the Most Holy Trinity, in the words of Has Urs von Balthasar, “joins the others, not as the recalling of some particular, recondite mystery that needs to be brought to mind once a year but as the sum of them all - Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost - finally allowing us to see together, in a unity, what up to now we saw as a colourful spectrum of broken light.”
