Leo XIV’s Brother: "He was VERY Close to Francis. They were VERY good friends"

Leo XIV seems perfectly at ease in his new role as pope, his brother John Prevost told NBC Chicago on 14 August. "He seems to be enjoying it. It’s like this is a natural."

Prevost believes that there were signs that his brother might become Pope: "Francis gave him another title just before his death – Cardinal Bishop. He’s signaling something there," Prevost said

John Prevost also finds it meaningful that Francis chose Robert Prevost as the first person to be made a cardinal in the 2023 consistory. "Why was my brother named first? What was the Pope saying by calling him up first? It wasn’t alphabetically."

Cardinal Prevost delivered the address of homage and thanks on behalf of all the newly created Cardinals.

John Prevost added about the relationship between Francis and Cardinal Prevost: "They were VERY good friends. VERY close."

John also shared private talks with Leo XIV like that they still play Wordle and Words.

Sometimes they still greet each other normally, and sometimes it's their cringe sense of humour: "Is this His Holiness?" "Yes, my child, how may I help you?"

Leo XIV likes Castel Gandolfo: “There really is an opportunity to relax and he doesn't have to be totally dressed in his papal outfit all the time."

The brother also mentioned that Leo XIV is "making use" of the pool in Castel Gandolfo. "There is tennis, and there is swimming."

It bothers Leo XIV that he can’t drive anymore: "Because that was his favorite thing, how he relaxed, was driving."

Leo XIV likes any destination for vacation, mountains or shore: "So long as he has an opportunity to drive. Driving to him is totally relaxing."

The favourite pizza is not sausage but pepperoni. "I did ask him that."

The brother adds that Leo XIV liked entertaining movies with a positive outcome and for books, despite having no time to read, he likes "legal thrillers".

John, on how he and Leo XIV handle interviews: "That's a big difference between us. He consciously stops and thinks about your question. I blurt the answer out and maybe it's not appropriate."

In October there is a Prevost family reunion in Rome. It had been planned before the conclave happened, but "now that Rob's Pope", even the 90-year-old cousins are trying to make the trip

Pope Leo's older brother John says that Leo was …

Sandy Barrett shares this

John Prevost, the older brother of Pope Leo XIV, told NBC Chicago that his brother seems very comfortable and even joyful in his role as pope, despite the heavy responsibility. He expressed confidence that the Church is in good hands, stressing how seriously Leo XIV takes his mission.
Prevost also spoke about how the papal election has affected his own life: he is often recognized on the street, receives many requests to pass on personal petitions to the pope, and is contacted daily with prayer requests. He remains in regular contact with his brother and jokingly said he hopes Leo XIV will attend his funeral in Chicago, even if that means his body might have to be kept “on ice” for a while.

Prevost, instead of being faithful to God, joined the rebellion of the reprobate Jorge Bergoglio against Divine Natural Law and Catholic Morality, and the Church has automatically excommunicated collaborators of heretics.

His Holiness is the baby boy of the family, right?

There's holiness? Did I miss something?

@Boanerges Boanerges 😆 Be nice.

Disgusting close up view of Bergoglio's darling

Since when do former Popes get to name their successor? I no longer believe in the process.

How many of us have professional friendships with people we work with and do not agree with all their opinions on many things. Just b/c Pope Leo had a friendly working relationship with Francis doesn't mean he approves or agrees with his theological opinions and actions. He is his own man.

True Mass

Lol

Get your head out of the sand, @philosopher. This isn't just another secular corporation we're talking about here. @Bonnie Louise is right; the process can no longer be trusted. These men aren't looking to the Holy Spirit for guidance. They've got their own agenda, and He'd just get in the way. Hagan Leo is not his own man; he belongs to the cabal that's running the show.

philosopher

@Elizabeth Ann VonRhine that would be true if the entire Conclave had voted in lock step. Pope Leo got a majority vote with many voting against him. A Cabal is monolithic and not fractured into various blocks. If one believes that it's a mere political system that can no longer be trusted, then the Church is meaningless and finished, there is no longer a reason to be Catholic. The Gates of Hell shall not prevail!

@philosopher That would be true, except these men have wised up since Bergoglio. It didn't take a unanimous vote to elect Bergoglio's hand -picked successor (a fact testified to by several in recent days), and such a vote would have given away the plan. The cabal in this case is not fractured; there's just more of them than there are good guys; and since their church is a democracy rather than a monarchy, that's all that's needed. This so-called "Church" HAS become a political system that can no longer be trusted, and it IS meaningless and finished. But the true Church is still here under the facade built since Vatican II that was prophesied by the Blessed Virgin. What is in Rome is the church in eclipse. And think, philosopher, think. What is an eclipse but one body that can't be seen because it is blocked out by the other? This will pass, as does every eclipse, with our prayers and penance and our devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary which will triumph. The true Church still exists wherever there are true believers who still adhere to the truths of the Faith as taught consistently until Vatican II, and it will be restored in all its former glory. The gates of hell shall not prevail, indeed!

@Elizabeth Ann VonRhine It seems you are proposing a true Church behind the physical facade of Rome theory. This is a form gnosticism. Even Ab Lafebvre didn't go that far. He never rejected the Pope -even those with a modernist bent. A sick person does not lose authenticity b/c they are sick. They only need to be restored to health.

He first got into the habit of long drives during undergrad when he would regularly make the 12-hour drive between Villanova and Chicago. One time he and his friends wanted to do this to attend a church dance, but the friar in charge of the dorm wouldn't let them go.

Credo .

So what's that got to do with the price of eggs? @RobertVitaQuest. Adding fuel to the fire doesn't help? No relevance whatsoever!

Birds of a feather, flock together.

What flock are you with Father Karl A Claver?
