Founder: Mother M. Frances Krasse, OSF
She was born March 23, 1839 in Herbern, Germany,the fifth of six children, and was named Theresia.
On August 21, 1875, as a result of Bismark’s May Laws, the whole community of 25 sisters and four postulants boarded the P. Caland and sailed to America. They settled in Iowa City, Iowa with the help of a priest they had met in Germany.

New Habits
We had another community forum in June and were informed that, besides the changes to the habit that we heard about in March, they had since decided to bring back the scapular and the cord. In March we had been told that we would be going to a full length habit, a longer veil and would be getting the Franciscan Crown rosary back.
