Italian Media: Vatican Press Office to Opus Dei
Rumour has it that Pope Leo XIV could appoint a member of Opus Dei as Holy See press speaker.
During John Paul II's pontificate, Joaquín Navarro-Valls, a member of Opus Dei, directed the Press Office for over two decades. His tenure was considered efficient and professional. Another Opus Dei member, Greg Burke, assumed this position at the beginning of Francis' pontificate.
The possibility of an Opus Dei press speaker is being considered as part of a zig-zag strategy to 'balance the tensions' between "conservative" and progressive factions [meaning: fig-leaf words and unread documents for Catholics, personnel and policies for the anti-Catholics].
