They Didn’t Just Bow—They Worshiped Him
The Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ’s divinity, recognized by the Magi, who were not kings but astrologers. Despite the fulfillment of prophecies and the arrival of the Messiah, Jerusalem was troubled, fearing change. The Magi offered gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, but the most important gift was their worship and recognition of Jesus as God.
The Magi’s worship of Jesus, not their gifts, is what truly mattered. As Gentiles, we are now part of God’s people and should offer our hearts to Jesus, not just go through the motions of worship. This gift of love and worship benefits us, fulfilling our purpose and allowing us to receive the gift of Jesus.
Mutual giving and receiving is a choice, as demonstrated by the wise men who worshiped Jesus.
