Sudden Death: Nuncio to the EU and Friend of Latin Mass

Irish Archbishop Noel Treanor, the Apostolic Nuncio to the EU, has died of a heart attack in Brussels on Sunday at the age of 73.

Under his leadership in the Diocese of Down and Connor (2008-2022), the Latin Mas grew significantly in popularity.

Speaking on behalf of the Irish' bishops, Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armargh, said he was "saddened" and "deeply shocked by the suddenness of Archbishop Noël's sudden passing".

The late Archbishop Treanor is survived by his brother John and his sister Mary.
