Pope Francis' Legacy: Chaos
"It could not be otherwise, when those at the head of the most delicate mechanisms of the Church are useless individuals put there by a tyrant on a whim."
The first major problem is the accommodation of the cardinals during the conclave.
Francis had to modify the original structure of the Domus Sanctae Martae, which had been designed as a residence for cardinals during a conclave and as accommodation for prelates during the rest of the time.
But because Francis lived there, "whole floors were reserved exclusively for him, with major structural changes and the permanent presence of collaborators and prelates close to him".
After Francis' death, the entire house was sealed off and the rooms reserved for him must remain sealed until the election of the new Pope.
The Constitution Praedicate Evangelium signed by Francis is also proving problematic.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin and the Cardinal President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State [= Sister Raffaella Petrini] will have to find alternative accommodation for the cardinals, as the Domus is too small for the large number of useless cardinals appointed by Francis.
According to ElWanderer.com's sources, "everything is chaos" in the Vatican. Francis' centralisation and drastic decisions have created a polarised internal system that is difficult to manage.
ElWanderer.com believes that among those who will "surely return to Buenos Aires" is Tucho Fernández, who will be the first to be expelled from the Curia, whether a "conservative" or a "progressive" is elected.
ElWanderer.com notes that when the Church is vacant, the duties must be very clearly defined, but "when changes are made without legislation, chaos ensues, which is exacerbated when those in charge are incompetent".
According to him, "everyone knows that the most serious problem is the master of ceremonies, Monsignor Diego Ravelli", who is "conceited but has an amazing ability to create chaos".
The internal organisation of the conclave is ultimately in his hands: "It will be a dramatic chaos".
The improvisation and exceptionalism of recent years are now taking their toll.
For ElWanderer.com, the next conclave will be one of the most complex in history, mainly because of the legacy Francis has left: "a Vatican and a Church fractured, disoriented and forced to confront its deepest contradictions".
