Autumn in Japan.
"Today [6 November] the Order commemorates the beatified martyrs of Japan whom nothing could separate from the love of Christ, and who confessed the faith in the 17th Century to the shedding of their blood for Christ. Between 1614 and 1632, there arose a huge army of martyrs, among whom was Alfonsus Navarette (d. 1617), Angelo Orsucci and Luis Frarjin (d. 1622) along with another nine Spanish Friars and about a hundred local martyrs, including novices, co-operator brothers, tertiaries and members of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. These were all beatified, along with others who had suffered there are the same time, by Pius IX in 1867."
