No Date Yet to Move into the Apostolic Palace - Leo XIV

When leaving Castel Gandolfo yesterday, Pope Leo XIV was asked by journalists why, unlike his predecessors, he had not prayed inside the Blue Mosque in Istanbul on 29 November.

"Who said I didn't pray?" Leo XIV replied. “They said I didn’t, but I already explained on the plane – I mentioned a book – and perhaps I am praying even now.” The book in question was 'The Practice of the Presence of God' by Brother Lawrence.

Leo XIV added that it is a matter of style and place of prayer, and that his favorite place to pray is a Catholic church in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

He called it "curious" that this moment had attracted so much attention.

When asked when he will move into the Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo XIV said: "There is no date yet. I am comfortable where I am, in the Holy Office."

Regarding US President Donald Trump, Pope Leo XIV believes that he is trying to break the "alliance" between the United States and Europe. He said: "The recent remarks made in interviews about Europe are, I think, an attempt to break what I believe to be a very important alliance, both today and in the future."
