Italian Diocese Presents Homosexuals and Adulterers as Christian Witnesses
The publication presents a collection of autobiographical “Christian testimonies” of homosexuals and adulterers.
Among the homosexuals are Marco and Michele: "We have been together since 2001."
The two homosexuals are increasingly integrated into parish life, including participation in the parish choir and diocesan pastoral activities: "What was previously set aside because it was uncomfortable and difficult to testify to has now become a reason for commitment, to bring our experiences to others."
They blame their lifestyle on God: "I believe that the ultimate goal of our work is to break down those walls of division that have always hindered the active participation of people belonging to the broad sphere of homoaffectivity in the life of the Church, under the love of the one Father who welcomes us in the freedom of how He created us."
Another homosexual man, Gianluca, wants the Church to recognize his sins: “I believe that a relationship, if it is genuine, stable and lasting, has a 'genetic' need for official recognition by a civil or ecclesiastical community, or both.”
Gianluca demands that his homosexual sin "not only has full right of citizenship, but can become a resource for those who are searching for greater authenticity and fullness."
Alessandra e Luca live in adultery (“new union”) following the breakdown of their marriages: “We had a great desire: that this situation, so much a source of scandal and so difficult to explain, so objectively contradictory, might be accompanied and welcomed.”
They claim that God is revealed by their sin: "Which face of God would we have known if, in order to ‘respect His rules,’ we had renounced that ideal of love we had always desired and that was manifesting itself between us, right here and right now?"
