Across the Barrier: A Missionary in the Holy Land.
“Across the Barrier: A Missionary in the Holy Land” is a short and fascinating new documentary that focuses on the work of Fr. Vincent Nagle, a missionary of the Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo. Originally from California, he left for Christ’s homeland, where he is a parish priest for a few small Christian communities in Nablus and Ramallah.
This documentary by Giacomo Prestinari includes beautiful music by Roland Satterwhite, an American musician who lives and works in Berlin.
The images take the viewer through the streets and houses of a land that is forever being filmed. Together with the film's main character, we once again cross through the wall of separation, requested by Israel. In the final scene of the movie, which takes us to the last episode in the Gospel of John, we experience what unites and overcomes the divisions.
On the shores of the Sea of Galilee, where Peter was forgiven by Jesus after having betrayed him, Fr. Vincent narrates how he lived the same experience: “Even when faced with the very same objections, even when faced with the most abhorrent betrayal, there remains an untiring voice that says, ‘You – come and follow me’.”
