Dog's "happiness"

I think she just got infected ! Kissing dogs is a very sick thing to do.

Louis IX

Oh brother.

Orthocat

This is so dumb... People have been living with dogs for millennia. Only modern man either worships them as substitute "children" or freaks out over them as carriers of disease. God made them and other domesticated animals to aid us in our lives.

@123jussi How many people do you know that have gone to the hospital or died from a dog kissing them? I am in my 70's. I owned quite a few dogs and cats. I know plenty of people who also owned plenty of cats and dogs. Not One Of Us Ever Got sick or Died from them kissing us. Not one! How many do you know? One? Two? 0? Thank GOD he gave us such beautiful creatures to love and be loved by them. To use them in all sorts of fields. Military, physical and mental disabilities. Sniffing out disease's, cancers, and many other things. Including drugs and weapons. None of these people ever got sick. Go watch on yt from the time they receive a pet till the pet dies. Not once does a person or child get sick or die for a decade or more of owning them. Stop listening to so much propaganda. If a person gets sick from a pet. it will be extremely rare. By the way, I don't know anyone that has ever heard of anyone getting sick either. So much for the propaganda.

Dogs often lick their wounds in order to clean them. There may be healing properties in a dog’s saliva, and this may be another reason that they lick their wounds.
Certain proteins in dog saliva called histatins can defend against infection, and research has shown that there are other beneficial chemicals in a dog’s saliva that can help protect cuts from infection.
There is evidence that suggests that wounds licked by dogs heal twice as fast as wounds that were not licked.
As I said in a previous comment. Someone I knew had psoriasis. When her dog licked it, it stopped the severe itching and healed it. She had no more problems with it.
There are always pro and cons to everything. Me? I like facts I can see and that are proven. I think the proved enough for me that dogs do heal wounds. As I saw it with my own eyes. And again, never heard or knew anyone who got sick or died from it. It all depends on what people want to believe. Or the info they look for.

Everything in Gods creation is good but not everything is used as God intended. Genesis tells us that animals are NOT suitable COMPANIONS .God created dogs to be in service to us not to love and be loved by them . They are not capable of giving or receiving love, this is blasphemy ,they are not created in the Image and Likeness. Use them and appreciate them as God intended ,dont make them your children or spouses, if you need a good companion speak with your guardian angel ,they can love you back. Concerning injuries just google morbidity and mortality related to dogs,it will be an eye opener.

There isn't enough room for me to list everything from The Bible, our Saints and Church. So I will leave you but a few. Can you show me where it is blasphemous to have an animal as a pet as many of our Saints lived and loved them deeply?
This one says a lot to those who understand GOD.
"I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."
In other words... If a man will die for another man and it is good. Then Our Lord is saying it is just as good as a man to die for any creature GOD made! Because that is what a Good Shepherd does!
"Whosoever loves God aright loves all God's creatures." (St. Bernard of Clairvaux, Doctor of the Church)
"This devotedness to God, which results from the gift of godliness, and unites the soul to her Creator by filial love, makes her love all God's creatures, inasmuch as they are the work of His hands, and belong to Him." (Gueranger)
The love of a crow? You said animals do not have love!
"The love of the crow for its young is laudable! When they begin to fly, she follows them, gives them food, and for a very long time provides for their nourishment." (St. Basil the Great, Doctor of the Church)
"This devotedness to God, which results from the gift of godliness, and unites the soul to her Creator by filial love, makes her love all God's creatures, inasmuch as they are the work of His hands, and belong to Him." (Gueranger)
This one is very interesting indeed!
"Que me amat, amat et canem meum" ["Love me, love my dog"] (St. Bernard)
"Blessed be the eternal God, for fish in water honor him more than heretics, and creatures without reason hear his word better than infidels!" (St. Anthony of Padua, Doctor of the Church, after preaching to the fish)
John The Apostle!!!!!!!
John was humble and simple, like the Divine Infant of Bethlehem; and one cannot read without emotion what the early writers tell us of him, how he was often seen fondling a pet bird in his venerable hands."
(Gueranger)
One of my very favorite.
But the ass said to Balaam, "Am I not your own beast, and have you not always ridden upon me until now? Have I been in the habit of treating you this way before?" "No," replied Balaam.
GOD allowed Balaam to hear what The Donkey was saying to the man and he understood him. Just like in The Garden of Eden. Which one day will be the same again.
All creation is from GOD. St. Thomas Aquinas said the same thing. They are all part of GOD!
Sacred to GOD? An animal?

"The LORD said to Moses, 'It is I who have chosen the Levites from the Israelites in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites. The Levites, therefore, are mine, because every first-born is mine. When I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I made all the first-born in Israel sacred to me, both of man and of beast. They belong to me; I am the LORD.'" (Num. 3:11-13)
Trust me I can go on. Including hermits who lived with their pets and loved them deeply. And don't forget the Saint who brought back actually 3 animals. Two were his pets he loved very much. So much so he could not live without them and brought them back from the dead!!!!!!!
St. Philip Neri had a pet Cat he loved very much.
So I showed you enough. Though there is plenty more. Now can you please show me where it is blasphemy to live with a pet and love it? And where it has no love for others? I proved they do! Prove to me they don't. That's all I ask.

I edited the last comment. I forgot to add about the crow. But here is another one from The Bible.
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee: and the birds of the air, and they shall tell thee. Speak to the earth, and it shall answer thee: and the fishes of the sea shall tell. Who is ignorant that the hand of the Lord hath made all these things? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the spirit of all flesh of man.

St. Philip Neri, known as the Apostle of Rome, is one of these. Philip was a 16th century saint who has a connection to cats, since it is said that he traveled the streets of Rome with his pet cat in a basket.

If you treat an animal like one of your family someone will come along and cook it for dinner...
2 Samuel 1-4.
Treating a dog like a member of the family is downright crazy.

@chris griffin
I don't say those things. GOD, Christ and His Holy Saints said all those things. At least try to understand what everyone is saying and trying to teach us.
So what do you say to Our Lord when He said, a good Shepherd lays down his life for his sheep? I didn't hear him say it was bad or wrong. Just the opposite. A GOOD SHEPHERD! Sounds as though He is approving of giving your life on any creation GOD made.
What about at least two of The Apostles who refused to eat meat? And St. Philip Neri said, if you only knew about animals You wouldn't eat them either. And carrying around a cat in his basket to keep it close to him and not part with it? Now I never even done that!
The Saint who brought back to life two fish and a lamb he loved. Show me where it is wrong for any of those things.
And what about John The Apostle? Did you bother to read it all? They are all part of GOD. Made from GOD'S Love.
GOD HIMSELF SAID THEY WERE SACRED TO HIM. Just in case you missed that part.

@Instaurare Omnia in Christo... My pet slug and my pet snail got in a terrible fight. I would have stopped the fight, but it all happened so fast!

I hope this is meant as a joke to lighten up the conversation. Because that is how I will take it.

There are no pets in the Bible nor in the lives of saints .certainly animals were used for various purposes according to Gods plan but none were loving companions or pets. Some people love their pet rocks also but that does not make them companions. To love is a rational act ,animals nor rocks have reason so they cannot love. Just because Christ said the very stones would cry out to recognize Him does not make them suitable companions. If you truly want a trustworthy companion turn to the guardian angel God gave you for such purpose not a dog or other animal.

@123jussi You have just denied everything Christ and his Saints and Prophets said. And can twist it all you want. I am not going to go back and forth anymore. If you read what I left and still denied it, including St. Philip Neri taking his cat everywhere in a basket, that is not my problem. You will have to deal with it later on. Eve in the Garden spoke to a snake and related their conversation to Adam as it if was normal to them. You have missed everything else in The Bible. Including Balaam. So no use talking to anyone who just refuses to see.
