At Cyzicus, on the Propontis, the anniversary of the holy martyrs Fausta , virgin, and Evilasius , under the emperor Maximian. Evilasius, a priest of idols, sheared Fausta and shaved her to make her contemptible, ordered her to be hung up and tortured; he then wanted to have her sawn through the middle of the body, but when the executioners found that they could not do it, he was so struck that he himself believed in Christ and, by order of the emperor, was also put to torture. Fausta meanwhile had her skull pierced, her whole body pierced with nails and was placed on a burning sheet of iron, then, at the call of a voice in heaven, with Evilasius, she went to the Lord.
