Civilly Married Bishop: "Depression Was the Reason"
He worked as a priest in Peru from 2002 to 2017, and then as Bishop of Caravelí until 2024.
Nann blames others: “The higher I climbed, the clearer the extent of the abysses, tragedies, abuse, mediocrity and lies became to me. I saw too much, and it horrified and depressed me.”
"I was becoming increasingly lonely and superficial."
Following his failure to remain celibate, he criticises the Church for its "desperate clinging" to the practice. He claims that celibacy does "far more harm than good".
Following the hysteria surrounding the Coronavirus, he "fell in love" with his current concubine. Monsignor Nann refers to her as a woman who loves him — watch out for the ego.
In December 2024, he informed the Vatican and the Archdiocese of Freiburg of his intention to resign from the priesthood.
At the time, Nann publicly lied, stating that he was resigning as bishop for health reasons. Now, he admits that he needed time to reflect and make a decision.
"Depression was the reason; love was the cause." [Living with someone who is depressed is a tragic burden.]
Now, the failed cleric "no longer has to hide" the concubine.
