Cardinal Gambetti in Action

SilereNonPossum.it (July 2) published more information about Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, the Archpriest of Saint Peter’s. Highlights.

• Mauro Moretti, 68, who was hired for unspecified tasks by Cardinal Gambetti was sentenced to five years in prison on 30 June for the 2009 Viareggio train derailment which killed 32 people. At the time, Moretti was the CEO of Italian train company.

• On June 30, one hundred loudspeakers and other equipment arrived in St Peter’s to replace the old sound system which had no defects.

• Gambetti presided a June 27 Eucharist for Vatican employees. About seventy people attended. There are 1930 employees in the Vatican.

• On February 15, two of Gambetti’s co-workers received the Princess of Bahrain in St Peter's Basilica without informing the Secretariat of State. They presented the princess of Islamic faith with a silver reproduction of Michelangelo's Pieta. In Islam, such images are considered idolatry.
