Spain: Opus Dei Priest Died in Accident
The diocese of Lérida in Spain has confirmed the death of Opus Dei priest Manuel Beunza, 58, in a terrible accident on Sunday night in which another man was killed.
A 56-year-old resident of the town of Alfarràs and Father Beunza, a priest at the Arabell School in Lérida, aged 58, were the two drivers killed in a head-on collision on Sunday night on the N-230 road through Alfarràs.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred at 21:32 on Sunday. The priest was returning to Lérida after a retreat in the Aran Valley.
Beunza joined Opus Dei at a very young age. At the age of 24 went to Rome and spent a few years studying and working in various capacities at the headquarters of Opus Dei.
He was ordained a priest in the Sanctuary of Torreciudad on 1 September 2002. Among other things, he was in Lérida from 2004 to 2005, but he went to Venezuela for about 5 years.
Later, in 2012, he returned to Lérida, where he lived until now in the Raier Youth Club, linked to Opus Dei. …More
