Court Defies President: Religion "Not Essential"

Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro passed a March 26 decree adding divine worship to the list of “essential services.”

It meant that churches and religious buildings could remain open even though citizens are asked to stay at home due to the coronavirus panic.

However, the following day, the decree was overruled by a federal court.
