Francis’ Church: The Dissolution Continues – Totus Tuus
Totus Tuus was accused of “sect-like structures,” “spiritual abuse,” “authoritarianism,” “unwillingness and inability of the leaders to recognise and remedy serious deficiencies in spiritual dealings with members,” “mixing of governance and spiritual direction,” “person-fixated and unreflective leadership style,” “refusal to accept criticism,” and “narrow-minded elitism.” Many of these accusations could also be directed against the Francis Church.
The community’s appeal against Genn’s decision has now been rejected by Rome. There is no independent jurisprudence in the Catholic Church.
In November 2020, one of the founding members, Father Thomas Müller, told De.CatholicNewsAgency.com that the accusations had been inflated by oligarch media propaganda and that the accusers had refused to engage in dialogue with the leadership on several occasions.
The group was initiated by the couple Leon and Birgit Dolenec and emerged from Međugorje prayer groups. It was recognized by Münster Diocese in 2007 and was active throughout Germany. Presently, it has 135 members.
