Cardinal Zen Supports Penance for Vatican Homosexual March
Cardinal Zen noted that activists had brandished rainbow-coloured props and had worn clothing emblazoned with slogans, and that homosexual couples had held hands passionately. "It was an outright protest."
He added that this was not a Jubilee pilgrimage where believers renew baptismal vows, repent sins and commit to reform.
The action had "gravely insulted the Catholic faith and the dignity of St. Peter's Basilica — a serious offence against God".
The Cardinal's main phrase is: "The Vatican knew about this event beforehand yet did not condemn it afterwards. We find this truly incomprehensible!"
He explains that, as if the Vatican were unaware, "we are not God" and cannot tell homosexuals that "their lifestyle is acceptable".
